Deux-Sèvres is a long, narrow departement which stretches from Parthenay in the north to Melle and Chef-Boutonne at its southern end. Within its boundaries is to be found a land of rolling fields, golden with sunflowers and ripening corn, fine chateaux, stone-age and Roman remains, silver mines, the Venise-Verte - an area of canals and quiet calm, and so much more that only by coming to Deux-Sèvres and spending time here can you really discover the true treasures of the area.
